Ben & Jerry being urged to use breast milk?!

Hello, I'm back with another news post. Dispite getting no responses from my last post, that I spend weeks on working on...

This is only one report, not a huge weeks worth of reports (I'll work on those some other time.)

Anyways, about this report. My friend just told me about this. And I had to share this with you guys.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals sent a letter to Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, cofounders of Ben & Jerry's Homemade Inc., urging them to replace cow's milk they use in their ice cream products with human breast milk, according to a statement recently released by a PETA spokeswoman.

"PETA's request comes in the wake of news reports that a Swiss restaurant owner will begin purchasing breast milk from nursing mothers and substituting breast milk for 75 percent of the cow's milk in the food he serves," the statement says.

PETA officials say a move to human breast milk would lessen the suffering of dairy cows and their babies on factory farms and benefit human health.

"The fact that human adults consume huge quantities of dairy products made from milk that was meant for a baby cow just doesn't make sense," says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. "Everyone knows that 'the breast is best,' so Ben & Jerry's could do consumers and cows a big favor by making the switch to breast milk."

Haha, 'breast is best.' I think Mr. Reiman should rephrase his words a little better.

"We applaud PETA's novel approach to bringing attention to an issue, but we believe a mother's milk is best used for her child," said a spokesperson for Ben and Jerry's.

Yeah, because we all know the only mother's milk that's good for humans...is Pamela Anderson's.

Just imagine if Ben & Jerry used breast milk. I could imagine the new quote they would use - "Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream: Made with 100% Pamela Anderson's Breast Milk" Hahaha.

In my opinion, I think PETA makes a lot of money and recognition because of Pamela Anderson. I mean, she's basically eye candy so they can be more successful. A lot of companies do that. For example: "In 2003, Anderson stripped down for PETA's "I'd Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur" advertising campaign. On June 28, 2006, Anderson posed naked with other protesters on a window display of the Stella McCartney boutique in London, England. It was a PETA gala event before the PETA Humanitarian Awards. Anderson went inside the boutique and said she would take her clothes off if the event raised enough money for PETA, which it did."

I bet a lot of non-vegetarians wanted to see her naked, so they probably posed as a vegetarian, went and gave money so they could see Pamela's girls.

PETA's letter to Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield follows

"Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, Cofounders
Ben & Jerry's Homemade Inc.

Dear Mr. Cohen and Mr. Greenfield,

On behalf of PETA and our more than 2 million members and supporters, I'd like to bring your attention to an innovative new idea from Switzerland that would bring a unique twist to Ben and Jerry's. Storchen restaurant is set to unveil a menu that includes soups, stews, and sauces made with at least 75 percent breast milk procured from human donors who are paid in exchange for their milk. If Ben and Jerry's replaced the cow's milk in its ice cream with breast milk, your customers--and cows--would reap the benefits.

Using cow's milk for your ice cream is a hazard to your customer's health. Dairy products have been linked to juvenile diabetes, allergies, constipation, obesity, and prostate and ovarian cancer. The late Dr. Benjamin Spock, America's leading authority on child care, spoke out against feeding cow's milk to children, saying it may play a role in anemia, allergies, and juvenile diabetes and in the long term, will set kids up for obesity and heart disease--America's number one cause of death.

Animals will also benefit from the switch to breast milk. Like all mammals, cows only produce milk during and after pregnancy, so to be able to constantly milk them, cows are forcefully impregnated every nine months. After several years of living in filthy conditions and being forced to produce 10 times more milk than they would naturally, their exhausted bodies are turned into hamburgers or ground up for soup.

And of course, the veal industry could not survive without the dairy industry. Because male calves can't produce milk, dairy farmers take them from their mothers immediately after birth and sell them to veal farms, where they endure 14 to17 weeks of torment chained inside a crate so small that they can't even turn around.

The breast is best! Won't you give cows and their babies a break and our health a boost by switching from cow's milk to breast milk in Ben and Jerry's ice cream? Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Tracy Reiman
Executive Vice President"

Hey, I drink milk. Nobody seems to have a problem with that. If I didn't have milk, I'd be drinking soda and Vitamin Water.

So if anyone wants to post an opinion, feel free to do so. :]

News from August 22-August 28

I haven't done this for weeks, but I'm trying to work on this again. I'll try to make a new post every week.

Hands-On Grand Theft Auto IV PC

Rockstar shows their love for the PC again with a up-res’ed version of Grand Theft Auto 4 due out in November, and the improvements and extra features might be enough to inspire even diehard console gamers to steal a computer and give <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Liberty City a visit on the PC. It was recently shown at the Leipzig Games Convenion.

The most noticeable difference between the PC version of the game and the console versions are the graphics. GTA IV PC outputs at 2560x1600 with improved textures and draw distances, meaning that even on a 106” television the graphics are downright breathtaking. In the “Three Leaf Clover” mission (One of my favorite missions ever) shown behind closed doors at the Leipzig Games Convention, the improvements are most noticeable when speeding over the bridges into the towering downtown environments. While the port is a work in progress, the best basis for graphic comparison is this: The trees lining the city streets haven’t been redone for PC yet, and basically look like square paper collages compared to the rest of the game, again on a television larger than the walls of many New York, I mean, Liberty City, apartments.

The most impressive additional features aren’t being shown off yet. The PC version will include a replay and montage editor that continuously records the previous 30 seconds of gameplay allowing players, with a simple click of a button, to review their best smash-ups and kill sprees in various camera angles with the ability to add filters and music before uploading them online. Awesome! So I can make a video of Niko having shootouts with gangs while a certain Paramore song is playing in the background. Or doing awesome stunts on a motorcycle with some heavy metal music playing.

Sources asked about the rest of the upgrades, but Rockstar seems to be keeping the rest under wraps for now. At least they promise expanded multi-player which will allow gamers to search for specific types of matches.

GTA IV for the PC supports not only the mouse and keyboard, but also the 360 controller too.

Rockstar gives some solid incentive to buy the game for PC. You'll be able to edit your own Liberty City story this fall.

And I for one, will be totally buying it. Awesome graphics, video editor, 360 controller compatibility, and the possible chance of modifications, it’s gonna be awesome.

Left 4 Dead Delayed

The release of Left 4 Dead, the eagerly awaited cooperative zombie-slaying experience from Valve, is being delayed by a couple weeks. The game will hit your PC and Xbox 360 on November 20th, not November 4th as had been previously announced.

According to Valve president Gabe Newell, the date is significant because "Left 4 Dead is going to be released on the tenth anniversary of Half-Life, our first game."

Maybe the game is being delayed for sentimental reason, or because it needs a touch more work. Either way: We'll gladly wait. I know I will. I can’t wait to get this game, me and my friend Alan will be kicking some zombie ass...or we’ll be the zombies and kick some human ass!

Snoop Dogg Gets Rich with Fashion Line

He has a lot of stuff with his name on it. Now, Snoop Dogg can now add fashion line to his resume of swag.

Following hot on the heels of successful rap icons turned fashion designers Diddy and Russell Simmons, Snoop just launched his own fashion label, Rich & Infamous, which he will promote through his E! reality show Father Hood and rad hip hop music. He’ll even be putting on his own fashion shows, which he will host, during his upcoming world tour.

For this venture Snoop is teaming with Robert Thorne, the CEO of the management firm Robert Thorne Co., who helped build Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen's billion-dollar business with clothing, licensed merchandise and eating disorders. I bet Mary-Kate and Ashley had to purge to get the clothes to fit.

Anyways, the clothing will be a line of streetwear for men ages 18-35, and will feature accessories, grooming and home products. The collection will be unveiled at the Magic fashion tradeshow in Las Vegas. Maybe I’ll check it out.

I wonder if the clothes are made of hemp?

Obama Sends Most Important Text Message Ever

The text message that Barack Obama sent to 2.9 million of his followers is the "most important text message" ever sent according to Nielsen. SPOILER: The message, sent at around 3AM ET on Friday, said "Joe Biden is my running mate."

"While much has been said of the timing and the scoop by news outlets, Obama's V.P. text-message still ranks as one of the most important text messages even sent and one of the most successful brand engagements using mobile media," Nielsen's report read.

Not only that, but the Democratic Party now have nearly three million cell phone numbers.

Every Song in Rock Band 2 Rated

IGN did the gaming world a great service. The website compiled an easily searchable database of every song in Rock Band 2, ordered by difficulty on each instrument. It makes amazing reading and/or planning for the release of the game this fall.

Some interesting tidbits: Bob Dylan's "Tangled Up in Blue" has almost the easiest drum lines in the game, but very difficult vocals, and Eye of the Tiger is easy on every instrument, making it the spazz's choice in Rock Band 2. Judas Priest's "Painkiller," on the other hand, is the hardest overall song to play.

I'll show you the different lists next time.

ION Drum Rocker

Perhaps you've heard of the ION Drum Rocker, the Lamborghini of fake plastic instruments? Although the multi-headed input device for music games like Rock Band, Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero World Tour isn't out yet, it’s look pretty awesome. It doesn’t only work on Rock Band and Rock Band 2, but it also works on Guitar Hero World Tour. So if you want a good drum controller, but not really into Rock Band, you’re okay. Or if you want a good drum controller, but you exclusively play Rock Band only, thus not giving Guitar Hero a chance, then you’re still okay... you sick, sick person. (Ha, just kidding)

But anyways, I’ve tried both GHIII and RB last year and they were both pretty good games. I can’t say which one is my favorite, but if it wasn’t for Guitar Hero, Rock Band would never be famous. If you wanna see the sexy photos of the ION Drum Rocker. Here's the link. https://www.drumrocker.com/products/index.php

Whether the DLC (Downloadable content) will include extra real estate, a new protagonist, or just some new plot development remains to be seen, but if I find out something, I’ll probably post it on here. And when it comes out, I’m sooooo downloading it.

I know Flyleaf is a Christian band ...well, not mainly a Christian band. Some of you might think “When were Flyleaf a Christian band? I don’t like them anymore.” or something above those lines. Well I’m gonna explain something. The five members of the band are of the Christian faith. It influences their music, but singer Lacey Mosley doesn’t necessarily believe that makes Flyleaf strictly a Christian band. "We all share the same faith. And so when we deal with the whole 'Christian band thing,' we kind of think about something P.O.D. says, like, 'If you're a Christian, it affects everything in your life. So if you're a plumber, does that make you a Christian plumber?'" Mosley said. "I don't know the answer. We're a band, it's part of who we are, so it comes out in our music, and it's the fuel for what we do. And finding faith saved my life. So I'm not ashamed of it at all. And most of our album reflects that."

I don't really care. I've played GTA IV for months, it's a good game, probably one of the best GTA's ever... but it's lacking of things to do when you're bored. So, while I'm waiting for GTA IV's new downloadable content next year, I'll possibly be playing Saint's Row 2... it's gonna be great!

Mental clinics, British on black violence, Band successfully sell over 1 million records, Killer bears

Um...I'm gonna be like, doing news reports or something...like a news show. I think I did this on MySpace before.

Anyways, music news...

"Chiodos Singer Taken to Mental Clinic"

Lead singer of the band Chiodos Craig Owens attempted a drug overdose at his house in Michigan on Sunday and checked into an undisclosed mental health facility. According to Mike Shea, president of Alternative Press, he states that "Craig has always had trouble handling criticism towards the band, he's a really sensitive guy".

In my opinion, alot of bands get criticism towards their band, and most of them didn't try to overdose. I don't know much about this guy or his band, he needs to take those criticisms and throw them out the door or in the trash or where ever he wants to throw them at...just not at some defenseless person.

A post on his website said "so, after an attempted overdose early yesterday morning, i found myself awake in the emergency room around 8 - 12 hours later. however, don’t worry about me, i’m fine. i am being checked into a mental clinic beginning tomorrow at 8 am. i’d like to apologize to everyone at Power Chord Academy, for me not being able to make it to speak to all of the kids tomorrow in Chicago. i promise to make it up, the best that i can and hopefully will be able to reschedule the entire event.wish me luck, and let’s hope that i learn from this, and that i am able get out very soon. craig."

...Apparently, the Power Chord Academy is a rock and roll music camp for teen musicians, he was supposed to go there, but had a drug overdose...kind of a bad example there. Instead of having a singer from a up and coming 'punk, emo or whatever you wanna call it' type band, how about they get some older star...like Slash from Guns N' Roses or some other 60's/70's/80's band...they know more about drugs and they can handle it better. I'd rather meet Slash than some new band member whom I've never heard of.

But, no hard feelings towards Craig, let's hope the best for him.

"My Chemical Romance to Cover Famous Folk Singer for Movie Soundtrack"

After ending their Black Parade era (which was a good album, by the way) and releasing their live album "The Black Parade is Dead!", My Chemical Romance might be recording a song for the 2009 movie The Watchmen and it's rumored to be a cover of a famous folk singer. I seen the trailer of The Watchmen when going to the movies on Monday and it looks pretty good, I seen it before watching "The Dark Knight" which, is like, one of my favorite movies now. It's already broken 3 box-office records, it broke Spider-Man 3's record for highest single day tally and the highest weekend debut of all time, it also broke Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest's record for the highest weekend debut in July. And it beat those records in under one week!. That's amazing. It made over $200,000,000 already. Christain Bale did good on his part as Batman and especially Heath Ledger, he did great as The Joker.

Anyways, My Chemical Romance experimented with their music before, I hope whatever they're doing next is good.

"Bloc Party Singer Allegedly Beaten and Racially Abused by Johnny Rotton and His Posse"

Holy racist of a washed up British punk rocker Batman!

Kele Okereke, good singer from the band Bloc Party got racially abused by Johnny Lyndon, better known as Johnny Rotton, the crazy old British rocker from the Sex Pistols. The incident took place on Saturday night at the Barcelona's Summercase Festival. The Sex Pistols were talking backstage with other British bands, many of whom witnessed the attack. Kele Okereke, a huge fan of Lydon approached him to ask if he would ever consider reforming one of his favourite bands, Public Image Ltd. The Sex Pistols singer became intimidating and aggressive while his entourage responded with a racist tirade including the statement, "your problem is your black attitude." Kele was then set upon by 3 members of Lydon's crew who punched him in the face and head as well as attacking people who tried to protect Kele from the assault including Yannis Philippakis from The Foals and Kaiser Chief's Ricky Wilson. The incident was broken up by security and was later reported to Spanish police. Kele also reported the incident to police in the U.K. after returning from Spain.

According to Alternative Press, Lydon, known for his outrageous behavior, retaliated with this simple response: "I feel very sorry for a man that needs to lie about what was a perfect evening. Trouble was brought us, resulting in those causing the trouble being physically removed by festival security."

There is no word on if Okereke will press charges against Lydon and his crew for the alleged racial remark and attack.

In my opinion, Johnny Rotton was good, I listened to the Sex Pistol's music before. But now these days, all the Sex Pistols really do is criticize people and things and make themselves look like hypocrites. One time, while playing Guitar Hero 3, I watched the behind the scenes video of the Sex Pistols re-recording their song "Anarchy in the U.K." and I remember him saying that Guitar Hero is a good game, then at a Guitar Hero 3 launch show, to promote the game, when he was called to the stage to talk about the game, and he criticized it instead, then talked about other things he hated. He is becoming a hypocrite, I think it's because of all the drugs he's done in his life that screwed his brains up.

"Paramore Sell 'More' Than 1 Million Copies of RIOT!, Express Appreciation to Fans"

In more cheerful news, Paramore's full-length album RIOT! has gone platinum, meaning that over 1 million people may all be coincidentally playing "Misery Business" in their cars at the very same time. The band has delivered a thank you speech on the Internet.

"Platinum has always felt like an unreachable goal for us … so we have our fans to thank for making platinum happen. It's a dream come true. Thanks for always being there! Love you guys,"the band exclaimed on their official Web site. RIOT! was released in June 2007 and launched the singles "Misery Business", "Crushcrushcrush", and "That's What You Get"

My friend Jayna, she's the one who made me a big fan of Paramore, last year when I told her that we're going to Warped Tour, she was listening to the band constantly, we went to see them at Warped last year, it was amazing. I bought the album and I love it. It's has to be one of the best albums of last year. (and still one of my current favorites)

Paramore will be on tour all summer. You should go see them. Me and Jayna are trying to plan a way to go to their August 15 show in Philly.

And more great news about Paramore.

"Play as Hayley Williams in Guitar Hero: World Tour"

Do you wish you could be Hayley Williams? Guitar Hero: World Tour is letting that wish come true.

It's revealed that Hayley Williams will be a playable character in the upcoming "Guitar Hero: World Tour" video game in October.

"I ran around like a fool in motion capture gear so the Guitar Hero team could use my movements in the game. Seeing myself in the game is the weirdest, creepiest, coolest experience ever!" Williams stated during a recent press conference at Electronic Entertainment Expo, also known as E3.

The popular music video game will be released in late October and Williams will be one of many playable characters in the game along with former Blink-182 and current +44 drummer Travis Barker according to IGN.

Awesome, now I can be Hayley Williams...without me dying my hair and getting a sex change. This is probably gonna be one reason I might buy Guitar Hero: World Tour over Rock Band 2. Rock Band 2's coming out a little too early for me, and my original Rock Band drumset broke, the Guitar Hero: World Tour drumset looks more sturdy, because the drums aren't hanging on the edge without any structure like the Rock Band drums do. The drums that are coming with Rock Band 2 are almost the same thing. But there is gonna be a more realistic looking drumset for Rock Band 2, it's probably gonna be $300 though. But the cool thing is that it's also be used as an electric drumkit, so you can play it when you're playing the game or when you're not playing the game. Maybe I'll get it for Christmas. I'm not sure yet.

And one more report thingy...

"Pack of Giant Bears Attack Miners, Eats Two of Them!"

Terrified workers at a mining compound in one of Russia's most isolated regions are refusing to go to work after a pack of giant bears attacked and ate two of their colleagues.

At least 30 of the hungry animals have been seen prowling close to the mines in northern Kamchatka in search of food, where the mangled remains of the two workers, both guards, were found last week.

The co-workers at the compound in the Olyotorsky district are trapped and frightened: the gruesome discovery has left them too scared to venture out. A team of snipers, with orders to shoot the bears, is now being dispatched to confront the invasion after government officials authorized an off-season hunt.

A spokesman for the local government in the capital, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, said that the area was so isolated that it would take until at least Saturday to get there. Attempts to reach the scene by helicopter had to be abandoned because of thick fog.

The Kamchatka brown bear is one of the world's largest, with males growing to around 10 feet and weighing up to 1,540 pounds. They can also reach speeds of up to 30 mph despite their size.

The peninsula, nine time zones east of Moscow and twice the size of Britain, is home to an estimated 16,000 bears.

“In the interests of safety they didn't come out to work — the people are scared by the invasion of bears,” a spokesman for the Kamchatka emergencies ministry said. Villagers in nearby Khailino are also afraid to leave their homes after bears were seen rummaging through garbage.

Oh why didn't we listen!?

That's it for now...check back sometime for more report thingys...
